Gua Sha ("gwa-sha") is a natural alternative therapy invented by ancient Chinese. Its massage stimulates microcirculation of soft tissues, enhancing blood flow.
Gua Sha can effectively address various skin issues, remove toxins, stimulate blood flow, and increase lymphatic drainage. Immediate results have been observed in reducing fine lines, puffiness, and achieving more radiant skin. With prolonged use, Gua Sha reveals reduced signs of ageing, such as wrinkles and sagging skin. How to Use Gua Sha
All Vanessa Megan™ creams, oils, and serums are suitable for use with this Gua Sha tool.
For best results, use our Prebiotic + C powder scrub before the Gua Sha massage to enhance deeper penetration of your favourite VM product.
Ensure your hands are clean and you have applied Vanessa Megan™ cream, oil, or serum to your face before starting. You should never feel like you are pulling your skin; there should always be some 'slip' to work with the Gua Sha massage.
Follow the diagram, moving across the face and neck in the direction of arrows 1-25, and slowly glide the Gua Sha over each area three to five times. Rotate the tool for different facial areas as shown in the image.
Apply light pressure on less fleshy areas (such as the forehead and around the eyes) and increase to medium/firm pressure on the cheeks, jawline, and neck where there are more muscles and tension.
Use the Gua Sha tip on acupressure points, pressing firmly, count slowly to three while inhaling and exhaling.
Some redness after the massage is expected, as in Chinese medicine, red flushing (or 'sha') is recognised as a healing response of your body. The degree of redness depends on your skin type, but you should not bruise or remain red for more than 20-30 minutes post-massage. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
