Cardamom essential oil is obtained through steam distillation from the seeds of the plant. It clears the respiratory tract and reduces phlegm. It promotes sweating and is antispasmodic. Due to its analgesic properties, it is used for muscle and musculoskeletal pain. It reduces inflammatory responses in the body. It warms, invigorates, and improves circulation to the painful area. For women's issues, it blends well with rose. When combined with chamomile and citrus, it can support better digestion. For treating problematic skin, it pairs well with tea tree or lavender. Contraindications
Not suitable for pregnant women until the end of the third month of pregnancy, for breastfeeding women, and children under six years of age. Pregnant women need to adhere to low dosages and not use it long-term. It is better to replace it with another, more suitable essential oil. It may cause an allergic reaction. Always mix with a carrier oil. Do not ingest. Excessive use of cardamom can cause increased sweating, headache, stomach pain, nausea, dry mouth, but also dizziness, vomiting, tachycardia, hypothermia, insomnia, or increased fatigue, and hallucinations. Do not use long-term (continuously for more than 10 days), adhere to low dosages.
Children: Generally, the use of essential oils is not recommended until the end of the third month of an infant's life. Essential oils can be used sporadically until the child is six months old, after consulting with a trained aromatherapist, depending on the type. After the sixth month, mixtures specifically blended for children of this age can be used. From one year of age, milder essential oils, such as citrus, can be used in very low dilution, sporadically, with caution. Never use on mucous membranes and directly on the skin in undiluted form.
Dilution: For an aroma lamp or diffuser, add 2-5 drops depending on the size of the room. For colds, mix one drop of EO into a tablespoon of vegetable oil and apply to the chest and back. For a 50 ml massage oil, add a maximum of 15 drops.
